Hello! My name is Samantha Trotter and I teach fourth grade language arts and social studies.  This is my sixth year teaching and I love teaching in my hometown.

I graduated from Clemson in the Spring of 2006 with a BA in elementary education and a minor in Spanish.  While attending Clemson I was a Rally Cat (a member of Clemson's dance team) and had the wonderful opportunity to live in Granada, Spain for several weeks over the summer.  In August of 2009, I completed a Master in Education at the University of South Carolina in Language and Literacy.  And in December of 2011, I completed a Master in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University.

I am married to my high school sweetheart, Justin, and we reside in Batesburg. We have three dogs, named Riggs, Tilly, and Sloan.

Classroom Grading Policy

In my classroom, each student will receive a reading/writing grade and a social studies grade. Each reading, writing, and social studies assignment are equally weighted.  I will also be assessing the student's handwriting by giving an S for satisfactory or an NI for needs improvement.

Reading Logs

Students will be asked to complete a reading log daily.  The reading log will ask the student to read for at least fifteen minutes and complete one box each day.  These logs will also need to be signed daily. Reading logs will be taken up weekly and count as a reading grade. 

Social studies homework

Social studies homework will be given at times throughout the school year. Please check your student’s agenda daily for homework assignments.

Quizzes

All quiz dates will be announced in class and recorded in the student’s agenda and/or newsletter.
